A Bumblebee Transformer Cake

This weekend, I got to make a fun Bumblebee Transformer cake for my cute 4 year-old neighbor. I was more than a little intimidated by the prospect of sculpting Bumblebee out of gumpaste, but I think he turned out all right. And, yes, I chose to go with the retro/cartoon version. There’s no way I’d be able to sculpt the Bumblebee from the new movies! The cake itself was a full-size two layer snickerdoodle cake with lots of delicious cinnamon buttercream between layers and around the cake. It was covered with homemade marshmallow fondant. Yum!

Bumblebee, just chillin'.

Another angle.

So, happy birthday, my friend! I hope it was grand!

A “Prep and Landing” Birthday Cake

This year for his 4th birthday, my cute nephew wanted a Prep and Landing (the Disney short that came out this past December) party. What a fun theme! This is a delicious chocolate bundt cake with a batter full of chocolate chips. I also spread a thick layer of homemade peppermint buttercream frosting (complete with crushed peppermint candies!) in between the two layers of cake. I then frosted the cake with a divine chocolate buttercream and added fondant stripes and a mini candy cane border.

Unfortunately, my sculpting skills were depleted by the fact that both my little ones have had a stomach bug the past couple of days. Luckily, I don’t think this 4 year-old will mind the paper elves stuffed into peppermint candies :)

Happy Birthday!

A Mini Birthday Cake for a Basketball Fan

This fun little cake was made for a basketball fan on his 35th birthday. Layers of devil’s food cookies sandwiched with delicious peppermint buttercream. The jersey was another cookie that I trimmed and then decorated with buttercream.

I took this pictures with a salad fork in them to help remind people how small these cakes really are.

Peppermint Holiday Cakes

These cute cakes were decorated to look like peppermint swirl candies. I even filled and frosted the mini cakes with peppermint buttercream! Layering this yummy buttercream with triple chocolate cookies made for one tasty combination. Think peppermint patties. The sparkly sprinkles topping each cake added some extra cheer. Happy holidays!

Thank You Cakes

As a thank you for some friends of mine, I made a set of mini cakes. As part of the set, I included this personalized fondant covered cake made of triple chocolate cookies and vanilla buttercream. The cheery polka dots and simple design made for one adorable tiny cake!
