Holiday Gingerbread Houses

Growing up, one of my favorite holiday traditions was baking, assembling, and decorating gingerbread houses for the holidays. The smell of baking gingerbread and the bowls of tasty candies just waiting to be added to the house with royal icing–what’s not to love? A gingerbread house makes the perfect centerpiece and, at least in our house, always brings a smile to your face. Combining sweet treat with darling decor, a gingerbread house is sure to be a favorite.

I am very excited to be offering gingerbread houses this holiday season. Each house is made completely from scratch and since all the decorations are done by hand, each house is unique. For an extra bit of personalization, a holiday greeting or your family’s name can be piped above the front door of the house for no extra charge. The houses measure about 5.5 inches wide by 5.5 inches long and come complete with a chimney, windows with shutters, a door opening into the house, and piped roof shingles.

The icing on the cake, or on the gingerbread house in this case, is the stained glass look of each window. By melting candies, I create colorful windows that glow when you turn on the lights inside the house. The lights are included with each house and are accessible through the front door of the house.

I love the simplicity of this house. However, the houses I will be offering this season will be decorated with a wide variety of candies and sweet treats.

Although I love the simplicity of this particular house, the houses I will be offering this year will be decorated with a wide variety of sweet treats.

“I just received one of your gingerbread houses — we LOVE it! Not only does it look delicious, but the quality is so professional and the decor so adorable that we are using it as a centerpiece on our Christmas table.  My kids especially love to turn on the lights inside the house each night when we turn on the lights on the Christmas tree.” -Marcie

I love the warm glow that comes from these houses when their lights are shining through the windows.

Because of the time time required to bake, assemble, and decorate each house, the price for one house is $35. If you do not want the lights on the inside of the house, the price is $30.

These houses will last from Thanksgiving to Christmas as charming decorations. The gingerbread will harden over time, so if you’d like to eat the house, I would recommend ordering it for a date within a couple of days of when you’d like to eat it. If a homemade gingerbread house would add that special touch to your holiday decorations this year, just submit an order form and let me know when you’d like your sweet treat!
