Dino Birthday Cake

I made this tiny cake for a friend of mine who just turned 2. The dinosaur is a miniature fondant sculpture (only about an inch big) resting on crumbled cookie “rocks”. The cake itself is made of triple chocolate cookies with a creamy chocolate buttercream filling and frosting.

Holiday Gingerbread Houses

Growing up, one of my favorite holiday traditions was baking, assembling, and decorating gingerbread houses for the holidays. The smell of baking gingerbread and the bowls of tasty candies just waiting to be added to the house with royal icing–what’s not to love? A gingerbread house makes the perfect centerpiece and, at least in our house, always brings a smile to your face. Combining sweet treat with darling decor, a gingerbread house is sure to be a favorite.

I am very excited to be offering gingerbread houses this holiday season. Each house is made completely from scratch and since all the decorations are done by hand, each house is unique. For an extra bit of personalization, a holiday greeting or your family’s name can be piped above the front door of the house for no extra charge. The houses measure about 5.5 inches wide by 5.5 inches long and come complete with a chimney, windows with shutters, a door opening into the house, and piped roof shingles.

The icing on the cake, or on the gingerbread house in this case, is the stained glass look of each window. By melting candies, I create colorful windows that glow when you turn on the lights inside the house. The lights are included with each house and are accessible through the front door of the house.

I love the simplicity of this house. However, the houses I will be offering this season will be decorated with a wide variety of candies and sweet treats.

Although I love the simplicity of this particular house, the houses I will be offering this year will be decorated with a wide variety of sweet treats.

A two-toned stained glass window.

“I just received one of your gingerbread houses — we LOVE it! Not only does it look delicious, but the quality is so professional and the decor so adorable that we are using it as a centerpiece on our Christmas table.  My kids especially love to turn on the lights inside the house each night when we turn on the lights on the Christmas tree.” -Marcie

I love the warm glow that comes from these houses when their lights are shining through the windows.

Another example of one of these sweet houses.

Because of the time time required to bake, assemble, and decorate each house, the price for one house is $35. If you do not want the lights on the inside of the house, the price is $30.

These houses will last from Thanksgiving to Christmas as charming decorations. The gingerbread will harden over time, so if you’d like to eat the house, I would recommend ordering it for a date within a couple of days of when you’d like to eat it. If a homemade gingerbread house would add that special touch to your holiday decorations this year, just submit an order form and let me know when you’d like your sweet treat!

Rainbows and Flowers Birthday Cake

I was so excited when my neighbor asked me to make a cake for her daughter’s 5th birthday. They asked for a full-size cake and the birthday girl wanted a rainbow on top and flowers on the sides of the cake. So fun and girly! The cake itself is layers of white cake filled with a delicious homemade strawberry buttercream. It was frosted with a vanilla almond buttercream and then decorated with marshmallow fondant accents. I had a great time channeling my 5 year-old self and decorating this bright and cheery cake!

Happy Halloween, Holly!

I am so excited to be giving Holly one of the giveaway prizes that she won a couple months ago! She knew, even then, that she wanted one of her prizes to be a cake for Halloween. This mini cake has four layers of devil’s food cookies filled and frosted with peanut butter buttercream. Yum! The cake is finished and decorated with marshmallow fondant and I added some chocolate licorice for the stem. I had a lot of fun making this little jack-o-lantern and I hope Holly and her family enjoy their Halloween treat!

The tiny little jack-o-lantern, all ready to help celebrate Halloween.

And just as a reminder of how small these cakes really are, here’s the cake next to a teaspoon:

Ice Cream Sundae Birthday Cakes

These custom cakes were created for a double birthday celebration. Each life-size scoop was baked to taste like the actual ice cream flavor. The strawberry scoop is strawberry cake with strawberry frosting, the vanilla scoop is white cake with vanilla buttercream, and the chocolate scoops is chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Yum! The cherries and sprinkles are made of fondant and the cherry stem is a candle all ready for birthday wishing.
